Who is the test recommended for?
- Patients to whom biopsy is recommended due to suspicion of prostate cancer based on clinical, laboratory findings (e.g., elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, suspicious results from digital rectal examination), and imaging data (e.g., ultrasound, MRI)
- Patients in whom a recent invasive biopsy was inconclusive or inconsistent with clinical observations
- Known cases of prostate cancer with suspected metastatic recurrence, to rule out a new primary tumor
Limitations of Trublood
- Does not differentiate between ductal and acinar subtypes of prostate adenocarcinoma
- Not validated for detection of rarer subtypes such as basal cell carcinomas
- Does not provide the Gleason score or grade
